Dakota Trammell Reflection Blog

I think that I have learned a lot during this course. I was surprised about how I was currently using techniques we have discussed. I knew that non verbal cues were important when communicating, but I had never really analyzed my on communication skills. I will now find myself thinking about non verbal cues that I am sending when I am at work. I try to focus on what cues I am sending while communicating with different people at work. Before I took this class I never even considered what non verbal signs I was sending or how they would shape my message. I have also found that it is interesting what role social media is playing in the business world now. The way people do business is changing and it is very interesting to see the roles that Facebook, twitter, blogs, and other social media tools. I do not personally use most of the social networks, but it is interesting studying how companies are evolving their brand to reach a generation of people who are becoming more and more reliant on social networking. Although I find it interesting how businesses are using social media, I do not think it was very helpful for me to actually join twitter. All that I have got out of my twitter account is a few extra junk emails a week reminding me that I have a twitter account. I have a Facebook account but I am not active on it, and I have no plans to use my twitter account. Its a minor complaint as I think that the course has been very informative for the most part. I think that what has really reinforced the lessons has been how I can see situations where they can be used in an everyday basis.
